Reindeer House pt.7

Reindeer House pt.7

It was a slow, peaceful morning.

Snow was falling soft and quiet.

Donaa sat in front of the boarding house grand piano with a cup of peppermint tea, pencil behind his ear, and notebook open. He breathed in and said softly, “…One hour. Just one hour of quiet. Please.”

CRASH!!!!

Kometto burst through the door yelling: “Donaa-san!! Does this coat look like something the Yule Goat would accept a proposal in?!!” Exhaling through his nose, Donaa said. “You asked me that yesterday, and yes, it’s still proposal-acceptance worthy.” “Oh yeah…!! Well, thanks!!” Then Kometto passed a sleepy Puransa on the way out, who was wearing two different slippers, holding an empty coffee mug.

“Donaa-san… have you seen my glasses… or my manuscript… or… my will to live…” Puransa, exhausted and half blind without his precious glasses, walked straight into the wall. Donaa got up, gently rotated him 90 degrees, and sent him back to his room.

Suddenly, Donaa felt a presence beside him. Kyuupiddo had appeared silently, holding a huge gingerbread man in one hand and a blowtorch in the other. “Donaa-san? Can — I mean, may I melt the snow off the roof?”

“Kyuu… who gave you that?”

“Ummm… Santa?”

“No. No he didn’t.” Donaa then removed the blowtorch, replaced it with a cookie, and turned back, rather hopelessly, to the piano.

“DONAA!! You didn’t text me back about the protein order!! I mean — NOT THAT I CARE, BAKA!! But if Santa is to see my delts this year I NEED optimal nutrition!!” Barked Dashaa.

Donaa blinked. Dashaa stormed right out again.

At that moment, Bikkusen peeked in and chorused “Donaaa~ You look positively brooding today!! I’ll just leave you be — want the door closed, darling?” And so Donaa was left in peace to compose for one hour and four minutes. Strange how one of the most chaotic and unreasonably sparkly deer was the one to bring some tranquility...
