Reindeer House pt. 3
The Yule Goat. A majestic deer of such divine beauty that mere mortals can only glimpse her brilliance. Fur white as freshly fallen snow. Legs slender and delicate, hooves dainty enough to make angels weep. Enormous, shining black eyes that cleanse the soul itself. A celestial deer gracing this humble world with her—
“Uh, Kometto… you realise that ‘goat’ is literally in her name? She’s not a deer.” Puransa’s voice cut clean through Kometto’s daydream, shattering it like a snow globe hurled down the stairs.
Kometto whipped around, clutching his shoujo manga to his chest like a Victorian maiden. “Puransa!! Y-You’re just JEALOUS!! You know she’s an immensely beautiful and kind deer!! What do YOU know about love anyway?!”
The library fell silent — just the faint thump of Dansaa’s dance music from the studio and the distant bustle of the town.
“I… write romance novels all night. Every night.” Puransa stated, deadpan.
Another silence.
Kometto’s ears twitched anxiously. “W-Well— well that’s FICTION!! There’s a huge difference between fiction and reality!! Puransa raised a brow. “I guess you’d know all about the misconceptions between fiction and reality~ deer indeed.” “STOP TWISTING MY WORDS!!” Kometto squawked. “You can’t appreciate her beauty because — because — you’re too omniscient in your novels!”
“…Wouldn’t that make me more romantic? I already know the happy ending.”
“Puransa, if you keep insulting my beloved Yule Goat — who is a BEAUTIFUL DEER — I will CANCEL my subscription to your novel releases.”
Puransa paled. “Point taken. Delusion in love over seeing clearly. Good luck with… all this.” He made a strategic retreat before Kometto could weaponise that threat further. And as he walked off, inspiration bloomed: a clueless heroine who worshipped her love interest, utterly impervious to reality. Yes… yes, that would do nicely.
Meanwhile, Kometto returned to his reverie.
The Yule Goat.
A majestic deer whose beauty defies mortal comprehension. Fur white as new-fallen snow… eyes dark as midnight… hooves as dainty as poetry… A divine creature, his one true love…
Yes indeed. True love.
