Reindeer House pt.22.5
’Twas a few days before Christmas and the house was at peace —
Or at least, that’s what Rudorufu thought, at least.
Till all of a sudden, a clatter came from the roof,
And outside the window, Buritsen fell with an “oof!!”
⸻
“What on earth do you think you’re doing?!!” Rudorufu shouted down at the snow below, where a very fresh, very deep Buritsen-shaped crater had appeared a few floors down.
“Haha!! Uh, we’re hanging fairy lights on the house!!”
“W-W-WHAT?!! ‘We’ who?!! How many lights?!! Why wasn’t I informed?!!”
“Well,” Buritsen said cheerfully, climbing out of the crater and dusting himself off, “we’ve got Dashaa on the roof, Bikkusen pointing where to put the lights from the ground, Kyuupiddo on Donaa’s back, Kometto making heart shapes out of the lights, Dansaa taking selfies, and Puransa brooding while helping on the roof!!”
“EVERYONE?!!”
Panic struck.
Rudorufu bolted.
He tore down the stairs, burst out the front door — and was instantly blinded.
The house, from top to bottom, was not sprinkled.
Not dusted.
But absolutely drenched in fairy lights.
Every colour.
Every shape.
Every conceivable wattage.
“Wh—wh—?!!” Speech failed him.
Donaa was being used as a ladder, Kyuupiddo was wrapped in soft pink and blue lights like a living ornament, Kometto was lovingly adjusting a glowing heart mid-wall, Dansaa posed dramatically in front of it, Puransa stared into the distance while holding a ladder, clearly questioning every life choice that led here.
Everyone was present.
Everyone was thriving.
Everyone except —
Rudorufu scanned the scene again, dread slowly blooming.
“…Where’s Bikkusen?”
“DAAAARLINGS, I’M BACK— !! AND I BROUGHT THE TINSEL!!!!”
Rudorufu gave up.
⸻
The electrical load was ridiculous enough.
Now there was tinsel, and baubles and stuff.
But as Rudorufu removed himself from the chaos,
He muttered “I guess this is festive on a bright December day-os.”
⸻
And somewhere behind him, the house sparkled ominously brighter.
To be continued...
