Reindeer House pt.2
Dansaa, a popular influencer on every social platform known to deer, could often be found in the boarding house studio, stretching and — well — “dancing.” His long custard-coloured hair was tied into a luscious ponytail, swishing like it had its own agent, and his elegant limbs moved with the grace and precision of someone thinking very deeply.
About life? Christmas? Art?
No.
His next selfie.
Yes indeed — while he appeared to be practising choreography, Dansaa was actually pouting at his reflection and swiping through filters. There was very little going on in that pretty head of his, and even less actual work.
“Dansaa, have you seen my glasses anywhere?” Puransa — older brother by age, though often mistaken for being the younger — shuffled into the room. Shorter, grumpier, permanently sleep-deprived, he was a novelist who lived exclusively by moonlight and caffeine. Unfortunately, he lost his glasses as often as he lost sleep, which was…. often.
“Ohh, brother dearest!! How does this angle look?”
“My glasses, Dansaa. I can’t see.” Puransa’s tail flicked in irritation, one ear twitching.
“Hm? You like it? Me too~! Mistletotally gooorgeous!!” Dansaa, without even glancing at his brother, flung his leg up on the ballet barre, pouted at the perfect 30° of drama, and angled the selfie stick like he was conducting a symphony of vanity.
“Why do I even bother.…” Puransa spun toward what he thought was the exit and marched straight into a large, warm wall.
Except the wall said, “Oh. Pura-kun.” It was Donaa. Donaa — tall, stoic, built like a snow-ploughing hero but soft and sweet as a marshmallow — looked down at him with mild concern. His voice was so deep and gentle it could settle a thunderstorm.
“Donaa-san!! Have you seen my glasses? I can’t find them and I’m almost late for my manuscript —!”
“Puransa…. your glasses are on your head.”
Puransa froze. Reached up. Despaired.
From across the room, Dansaa suddenly gasped.
“Donaa-san!! Do you like this pose? I look good, right? Right?!! Wait — did my brother come see me yet? I haven’t seen him all day, ugh~!!”
Puransa buried his face in his hands.
Donaa sighed fondly.
Dansaa changed filters.
