Christmas Brunch

Christmas Brunch

Christmas Brunch — our family tradition that was born from a longing for something calmer, gentler, more… together. It's our pause before the world catches up. A soft, golden hour where the day stretches slowly, and the only rush is toward laughter.

In the early days, Christmas Day often felt like a whirlwind: laughter, family, presents, the inevitable argument, kids buzzing before crashing, and suddenly the day was over. I longed for a space where everyone could linger, relax, and simply enjoy being with one another. A meal where the pace was slower, the voices softer, and joy could breathe.

And so Christmas Brunch was born. It has looked a little different each year. Some mornings the table is full of family, friends, even strangers who might become friends. Some mornings it’s just the four of us, which today feels just right. Plates heaped with goodies, jazz whispering in the corners, tiny moments of silly that bloom into big laughter.

It’s a time to linger over the smells and tastes, to cheer quietly at each other’s joy, to let anticipation settle in like a warm blanket. The day hasn’t yet erupted into presents or plans or the hum of busyness — it is simply us, together, noticing the light, the calm, the laughter.

The day is only just unfolding. Soon we’ll laze a little, then regroup to cook — a batch of biscuits ready for the big man’s arrival tonight. The festivities continue, simple, joyful, and perfectly ours.
